Arangetram is my first major solo performance in Bharatanatyam. Presented in Rotterdam and accompanied by a live Carnatic music ensemble from India and Paris, the evening follows a traditional Margam - a structured sequence that reveals the technical, rhythmic, and expressive dimensions of the form.

Each piece in the programme reflects years of training, shaped under the guidance of my guru, Jolanda Boejharat, and follows the Kanchipuram Ellappa Pillai Bani, Tanjore style.

I humbly invite you to experience this journey of dance and music with me.

JOLANDA BOEJHARAT

FOUNDER OF MONSOON FOUNDATION AND WORLDDANSWERKPLAATS

Jolanda Djaimala Boejharat is my guru and the heart of Indian Dance School Monsoon. Trained by Smt. Sitra Bonoo (disciple of Smt. Chandrika Sundararaman), she made her own arangetram in 1991 and has since inspired countless dancers with her creativity, energy, and resilience. Fun, lively, and endlessly encouraging, she brings warmth and joy to everyone she teaches. For this performance, she also plays the nattuvangam, guiding the rhythm and spirit of the dance with her characteristic spark.

CHANDRIKA SUNDARARAMAN

FOUNDER OF DANCE SCHOOL CHANDRIKA

Smt. Chandrika started learning Bharathanatyam at the age of 6 by her Guru Master M.D.Venkatesh in Kanchipuram Ellappa Pillai style and did her Arangetram when she was 17.
She broadened her dance horizon by learning other dances such as Kathak, Kuchipudi, Mohiniattam and Bhangra and performed at various locations in India before leaving to Holland in 1976 to accompany her husband.
She began her dance school in Zoetermeer named CHANDRIKA. Besides conducting the dance school, Chandrika had performed more than 200 times in several European cities, Dutch TV shows and also for Dutch Queen Beatrix.
Few of her students in Holland who did their Arangetram have started their own dance schools in Holland and thus the 5th generation of her dance school is coming up here now.

GURU & NATTUVANAR
Jolanda Djaimala Boejharat is the founder and principal teacher of Indian Dance School Monsoon and my guru.
She teaches, choreographs, and mentors dancers in Bharatanatyam, Kathak, and fusion forms. For this arangetram, Jolanda also performs the nattuvangam, providing rhythmic and artistic guidance on stage.
Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam Aastaana Vidwan S.V.Giridhara

MRIDANGAM
Vidwan S. V. Giridhar is a renowned mridangam artist from Bangalore, India.
He is the founder and director NANDI Talavadya Academy and has trained many students and contributed to the music field.
He has also been honoured with the prestigious Karnataka Kalashree Award.
BHAVANA PRADYUMNA

VOCALIST
Bhavana Pradyumna is a Carnatic vocalist with a Master’s degree in Carnatic Music and a trained Bharatanatyam dancer.
She is an author and cultural curator engaged in interdisciplinary and research-driven arts initiatives. She is the Founder and Director of the Indian Conservatory of Paris, dedicated to the global dissemination of Indian classical arts.
Pragash Parameswaralingam

VIOLINIST
Pragash Parameswaralingam is a violinist from Paris, France. He began his journey in Carnatic music at the age of eight under the guidance of his guru, Sangeetha Booshanam Komala Kandhaya. He continues to refine his art under the mentorship of the renowned violinist and vocalist Akkarai S. Subhalakshmi.
